The train station is located in the heart of Doncaster. New development in the town has seen the train station building attached to the refurbished Frenchgate shopping centre. The train station is on the main London-Edinburgh line, and journey times are about 1 hour 30 minutes from London and 3 hours from Edinburgh.

The new Robin Hood Airport is located less than seven miles from the town centre, with flights to over 40 destinations worldwide. Doncaster is also within easy reach of Manchester, Leeds and East Midlands international airports.
